Just a story about the inhabitants of a corner bar in my hometown. Featuring their "bouncer".
I'm an amateur lyric writer who has been posting my lyrics on various songwriter boards for the past few years. Every now and then someone offers to put music to one of my lyrics. Since I don't sing or play any instruments these collaborations are the only way my work can be heard. This is a collection of some of these songs. You'll see they are in a couple of different genres.

Story behind the song
There was this bar in my hometown that had an unusual "bouncer". Duke was a Doberman who didn't mind if you entered the bar but would chase you if you got up to leave. It always made the end of the evening interesting.
Lyrics
Park Avenue Tavern Blues Cracked walls and neon bar signs Duke the Doberman guards the door Dusty trophies crowd the TV Broken dreams litter the floor Same worn out crowd on a Tuesday I have to question why I’m here It’s not the witty conversation Must be the cheap food and the beer Well, I could stay and join the fixtures Lord knows I've paid my dues Or make my escape from the lonely embrace of The Park Avenue Tavern Blues It’s not an easy place to leave You can get lazy here, no doubt Duke doesn’t mind you coming in Be quick on your way out Jim Jam mans the jukebox Steve’s trying to make a call Old Duke, he eyes the front door While Johnny slumps against the wall Well, I could stay and join the fixtures Lord knows I've paid my dues Or make my escape from the lonely embrace of The Park Avenue Tavern Blues Now two drunks start going at it And roll right out the door So I down my drink and leave some change Duke charges ‘cross the floor The old dog seems distracted So I make a hasty break Risking a piece of my hide For my lasting sanity’s sake Well, I could stay and join the fixtures Lord knows I've paid my dues Or make my escape from the lonely embrace of The Park Avenue Tavern Blues
