Story behind the song
This piece is very jam-like, over a drum pattern recorded for a song that sits on our (BlueZinc) CD entitled, Wild Women & Fast Cars. I took the drum loop, re-wrote the bass over it, and created this little ditty. I was going for something a bit more jazzy as opposed to funky, which is what WW&FC is. I think I succeeded with the clean guitar, but as the song progresses, it kind of turns into a heavier kind of fusion. I think I may have gone a little overboard with the slap back on some of the lines, but as you listen to it to the end, I guess it's not too too much of a nuisance ;) Funkee Spirals is about the way the song grooves (funkee), and how the soloing has some jazz tinges here and there (spirals). Couple of new guitars here being broken in for this song. Song was released March 28th 2001.
