I wrote this song some years ago while driving cross-country. The windshield wipers made a nice rhythm, and the CB radio gave me the rest of the idea.
Lyrics
18 Wheels
Minyard 2004
Woke up this morning
Raindrops a’fallin’
Another long hiway
Another big load
I never felt this lonely
When you woke up beside me
Now your love is gone
And I’m back on the road
_______________________________________
Chorus
18 Wheels
White lines and truck stops
Nothin’ seems real
18 Wheels
Haulin’ my heartache away
_______________________________________
I knew from the first time
I set my eyes on you
That you were the one
To be my sweet wife
But them long nights get lonesome
And a woman gets restless
Guess you weren’t cut out
For this truck widow’s life

Well it’s another sad song
Comin’ out of my radio
Another cup of coffee
From a roadside café
So I crank up my rig
And I roll toward the interstate
With rain on my windshield
And tears on my face
