This song was originally recorded on the Indigo Girls 1990 album Nomads, Indians, Saints, which was the follow up to their more successful Eponymous Album. This is a powerful song about turning wounds into scars, taking suffering and loss and turning them into something meaningful. I pray that I have moved far enough away from losing myself in others, to be able to have faith in not only myself, but also that there is some kind of goodness and grace in the world. I hope that I can live this song of redemption.
