It all about finding that personal 'desert' of our own like John the Baptist to wait for the Christ Child --in one small corner of our hearts.

Meditational, thought-provoking songs for easy Christian listening...the music of singer-songwriter Nancy Krebs
Welcome to my Soundclick page! I have been a professional actor and singer for all of my adult life. I felt fairly complete doing theatre, films, voice-over work commercials, and teaching. Ever since I was in High School, I also wrote songs--many of them spiritual in nature. I’ve always felt a strong desire to “serve” in some capacity. It wasn’t until 1994, when I turned the process of writing over to God, that all of the avenues that I had been following seemed to come together. I began to write song after song, inspired by the Holy Spirit, singing at a church that supported my fledgling efforts. People kept asking me ‘do you have a cassette or a CD of your songs?” “No”, I would always answer--for the thought of recording never entered my head. Finally, after much soul-searching, my first album, THE JOURNEY, was created, and concerts followed; and more songs followed, and another album followed, and the journey continues. God is not finished yet, and neither am I. The songs I’ve been blessed to write come under the heading of “meditational”, “contemplative”, “inspirational”; and when people listen, they seem to be moved by the sentiments expressed. My fervent hope is that a song will touch someone’s heart, and that heart will be moved to a closer union with God--the Father, who created us, Jesus the Son, who redeemed us, and the Holy Spirit, who sanctifies us.

Story behind the song
An Advent song of waiting--inspired by a homily I heard given at my church, which centered on John the Baptist, who went int othe desert to wait for the call of the Lord.
Lyrics
WAITING FOR THE CHRIST CHILD © Nancy Krebs 1996 In the hustle and the bustle at this time of the rolling year. In the merry songs and carols, only shrill demands I hear. Grab the presents, make the cookies, trim the tree, and spread the cheer. Forgetting constantly, the reason for this special time of year. All the nervous apprehension, stealing joy in one more way. Commerce beckons, frantic shopping, knowing there is one less day. All this wild anticipation, wea€™ll be happy so wea€™re told. But will the baby born in Bethlehem be left out in the cold. Like John the Baptist, we need a desert a place of refuge, a place of prayer. And in that wilderness, in one small corner of our hearts; we can wait for the Christ Child there. In the hustle, and the bustle at the time of Our Lord, John was sent into the desert, wearing skins tied with a cord. As he fasted and he waited for the moment of his call; both his heart and mind were centered on the Savior of us all. Like John the Baptist we need a desert, a place of quiet where we prepare. And in that wilderness, in one small corner of our hearts we can wait for the Christ child there. Like John the Baptist we need a desert, a place of refuge, a place of prayer. And in that wilderness, in one small corner of our hearts; we can wait for the Christ Child there. We will wait..we will seek... we will welcome the Christ Child there.

Nancy's beautiful voice gently reminds us of how easy it is to get caught up in all the preparations and forgetting what we are really celebrating, the birth of Christ! This well written, well produced song is a very nice way to help you focus on the true meaning of Christmas. Thank you Nancy for your gift to all of us!

Nancy's songs always touch your heart as you listen to them. They are written from the heart and knowing her personally, I can say she lives her life in the same way she writes and sings the songs. She is an amazing person who is sincere in her beliefs and this song reflects that!

This is a lovely song with such thoughtful lyrics. Quite different than what is normally heard. It draws me so gently and beautifully into the true spirit of Christmas.
