The Willis emerged in December 2002 out of the monastic isolation of Oshkosh, Wisconsin, and consists of longtime friends and periodic bandmates from, “Congratulations on Your Decision to Become a Pilot,” and “Cookie Bug,” just to name a few. The sound is pop inflected but resists sonic, tonal & rhythmic conventions with orchestral arrangements that don’t sacrifice the rock. The Willis’ debut album is produced by James Lison (formerly of Smart Studios, Madison, WI). The songs consist of traditional guitar, drum & bass compositions, complimented by diverse textures created by unlikely instruments such as marimba, orchestra bells, vibraphone, Moog, Hammond and Rhodes pianos and string quartet. The ultimate goal of the band is to create the Midwest’s indie-rock version of Pet Sounds. Also featured on the album is Alan Weatherhead, who has produced tracks for Cracker, Crooked Fingers and others, and performs with Sparklehorse and Hotel Lights

Lyrics
This is Casiotone And it sounds like a demo With a bossa beguine And the satellite preset Salty lives in New York and he gets high alot With Jimmy Fallon in Rockefeller Center's parking lot leave the midiverb off he's an audiophile and distort the B3 like the Beatles squeez the 1K then all we do is ride the fader and for analog chorus we go to JJ's so we can put some drums on tape and (convert ‘em to wav file) with a computer and do a mix down then we'll try to (burn a CD-R "for: jimmy fallon") We got a studio tan and we're feeling the tension cuz the record's gonna cost like two thousand dollars so we'll shop it around to find distribution but we're way to old to go on tour, anyhow There's a video on And it's shot like a western When Madonna's made-up She looks like Artimus Gordon we got the super8 out but even mtv2 doesn't play ‘em like they used to burn a CD-R (rpt) yeah!
