The retreat was fun, it's your first day back at work, the main speakers words in your head

The programs filling up, all the tickets have been sold, this seasons programs going to be the best
Combined it with the Tithes and the Offerings from this year, the new additions costs have been met
Well, we had to cut some corners, drop a few little things, like the Missions and the Feeding of the Poor
But when we get this built everyone will be welcomed, It'll only cost a dollar at the door
What happened to compassion and being a guiding light
And how did we stray so far from home?

Friday Night Alive let's out of church by nine, the youth head to the gym to shoot some hoops
The speakers in the foyer, selling tapes and books, and everybody stands around and laughs
Meanwhile two doors down, a women cries to God, praying for a meal for her kids
She has no where to turn, shes tried the church next door, but she don't have a dollar to get in
What a sad state we're in, when buildings come before
The needy and the lost in our hoods
