"Keep up the great work. Thanks for letting me listen." --Tom Sheehan (President of 19 North Records) "I think your sound is great!!! Something new and original." --listener Sean (via email) The term "Poor Richard" invokes images of hard work, individuality, and dedication. And all those traits perfectly apply to the Allentown/Reading, PA hard rock band of the same name. Crafting strong, powerful songs that feature provoking, insightful lyrics, hard-driving guitars, beautifully accentuating keyboards, and a powerful rhythm section, Poor Richard brings youth, intelligence, and energy back to rock music. The Band :: (l-r) Macfurry, Josh, Phill, Matt The basis of Poor Richard formed over four years ago, when brothers Josh and Matt Young (drums and guitar/vocals, respectively) and a fellow friend began jamming and playing cover tunes in a garage in the tiny PA town of East Greenville. Playing together on and off for a number of years, the three musicians finally decided to make things serious over a year ago, pulling together to play at a local high school's "Battle of the Bands." Finishing second out of seven bands, they decided to take things a little more seriously. Recruiting Phill Albright (of Reading) to play bass, the band became a four-piece unit, playing parties and practicing whenever they could. Cementing their sound with the addition of Matt McHale (also of Reading) on keyboards. After parting ways with their friend and second guitarist - once again becoming a four-piece band, Poor Richard was complete with guitar, bass, keyboards, and drums. Poor Richard members range in age. Matt Young is the youngest member, recentlyt out of high school at only 18 years old. Matt McHale (known as MacFurry) is the elder statesman of the band at 25. Phill and Josh (both 23) round out the group. All members have been playing their respective instruments or singing for a number of years in other bands: Phill, MacFurry., and Josh have all played in other bands before joining Poor Richard. Some of the band's members have also played in other settings: Josh has percussion experience in jazz, marching, and concert bands and Matt Y. was a member of his high school chorus. Poor Richard is ready and able to play. Their sound, excellently captured and represented on their debut five-song demo EP "Leaving Here " demonstrates their ability to anyone who hears it. Their live show, both dynamic and exciting, allows the audience to witness Poor Richard's deeply rooted talent and love for music on a whole different level. As fellow musician Mr. Nice Guy put it, "You guys are all very talented. You have it."

Story behind the song
Good things gone bad. We've all been there. We've all felt like we're in a helpless situation.
Lyrics
the beginning is the end it always comes around again what started out so well has gone straight to hell and i want to get out let me out - i'm falling down let me out - i gonna drown let me go - i need to breath let me go - i can't believe the end is the beginning a fight that i'm not winning getting beat around so much run away from your touch and I want to get out let me out - i'm falling down let me out - i gonna drown let me go - i need to breath let me go - i can't believe don't know what it means when nothing is as it seems wishing for the end break me off at the bend let me out - i'm falling down let me out - i gonna drown let me go - i need to breath let me go - i can't believe
