I play informally at various venues. I also go to SongMakers, a California music group.
Story behind the song
Jodi was born with three holes in her heart and Downs syndrome. She died after surgery at the age of 4. Jodi was brave, and full of joy, despite her prognosis. My interpretation is that Jodi was sent here to inspire us, with her joy, with her courage, with her light. Jodi’s nine-year-old sister Zoe made a CD to raise money for the Oxford Children’s Hospital where Jodi received treatment. I bought a copy. You can find out more about Jodi and her sister Zoe by searching for Zoe Mace.
Lyrics
One Little Angel
One little angel, dance with the stars,
Down to the earth, but only so far.
Holes in her heart, mindful of Downs,
A hard life some might say...
One little angel, one ray of light,
Showed us her courage, the courage to fight.
I’ll always remember her purest of smiles,
At the close of the day...
Smile after smile, joy after joy,
Spirit so strong, her body so frail.
Smile after smile, joy after joy,
Spirit so strong, her body did fail...
One little angel, one ray of light,
Dance with the stars, you are home tonight.
Dusk settles in, I see that first star,
It brings me back to her smile...
Smile after smile, joy after joy,
Spirit so strong, her body so frail.
Smile after smile, joy after joy,
Spirit so strong, her body did fail...
One little angel, one ray of light,
Dance with the stars, you are home tonight..
