Someone always on the move- Chicago native, Mahogany Jay developed an interest in music at an early age. Both of her parents were ministers, a gift she inherited- her ministry was music. She began singing in her parent’s church around the age of five, and soon learned to play piano and drums. She spent her years singing- at home, in the church, at school- wherever the opportunity presented itself. Eventually, she moved to Columbia, SC, and at the age of 16, she was introduced to producer- Scotti ‘Taseone’ Wilson. They began work on her first project- recording, writing and producing. S.A.O.M. truly reflects her growth as an artist during this process. Now at the age of 18, Mahogany Jay is ready to bare her soul through her music. She desires to minister to people through her music, touch something inside of them. This young lady carries a voice that is rich with maturity and soul. She has been compared to the likes of Mary J. Blige, Anita Baker and India Arie, and hopes to fill a void in today’s music industry with her soulful vocals, heartfelt lyrics and unique style- this is her time.
