Story behind the song
actually remnants of an old Inner Sanctum song. Fifth season took it and added wacky refrain sections to add it's touch. About family and the grief of parents and their concerns. And the childs feelings of neglect.
Lyrics
ENEMY UNSEEN (The joys of parents are secret, and so is their grief and fear.) I’m made the enemy unseen, told I’m the rival you doubt. Once the family was close, now your pushing me out. I search my head for answers, I need to unravel to unwind. Piece together some understanding, why your pushing me out? Chorus I had to force aside my feelings (my sensitive thoughts). Ive locked myself away for far too long (far too long). Ive been looking for a way out, an excuse for the pain. I’m too young to be where I’m going, too old to go back again. To reach out is so difficult, but less difficult than turning away. Thoughts that seem so fresh, but its always been this way. Is what I ask for so absurd? That my life should have a meaning. Is what I strive for so impossible? Why is my life so demeaning, demeaning! Copyright John Knight 1992
