Story behind the song
The drum track is primarily a korg KR-55 drum machine factory preset someone put in loop form and I got it somewhere - somehow. I added some reverb and delay to complicate it a little more. I isolated the snare and transposed it down and back up along with the volume for the windup effect. I've been working on this for days and listening to it at work on the road and thinking about how to finish it. The Music box consists of about 4 different loops cut and spliced. Most of the strings are basically Hip Style accents and a few Orchestra samples too. The story is in the lyrics space...
Lyrics
Norman was very young when he was adopted and brought to the big city to live. He had a favorite Teddy bear he almost never left alone. It was a wonderful Teddy bear with a music box built right in. The key was mounted on the backside, but what he like the most was the pretty little song it played. When he was on long train rides with his new mother or father (or sometimes his new older brother) Norman was especially glad his Teddy bear companion was musical. He would wind up the music box and lay his tired head on the bear's belly pinning it against the cool glass window. Norman fell in Love with that music box even when his new older brother tore it from the bear's back, he still keep the music box. He would often listen to it chime and think of other sounds that could go along with it. Norman found a whole new world for himself inside his Love of Music. He learned an appreciation for Music and it's power to express and comfort. Even now as an adult Norman still has a special place on his dresser next to the jewelery box and near his heart for that tattered old music box. He now teaches music appreciation to childern.
