liberal ranting and raving, but sensitive explorations of the current American malaise
Good Without One was a drummerless and mercifully leaderless rock trio performing off the track and often humorous, often political originals and originally arranged covers. The players are George Potor, guitar and vocals, Joe DeCristopher, guitar and vocals, and Rick Totten, bass and vocals. These folks have played together in different contexts for decades, but only as this particular trio from 2003 - 2008. While the level of musicianship is high, their disdain for the trappings of rock stardom is legendary. Two of the members even remained seated throughout performances, despite no obvious physical impairments. Their drummerless approach was a novel but occasionally successful scam to get electric instruments into acoustic venues.

Lyrics
VERSE 1: When yer worried ‘bout the future, runnin from the past, And ya can’t appreciate the Here and Now, Yer in a tailspin, but it just can’t last, Nuthin’ you can do but hit the ground. Things are lookin’ up, but yer lyin’ on yer back, Sky is getting brighter up above, Don’t be fooled by a gang like that; The darkness will be comin’ soon enough. CHORUS: Cheer up, things could get worse And sure enough they did. Keep the fear up, livin’ under a curse, Terrify the kids. BRIDGE 1: Talkin’ to my neighbor, he wuz leanin’ on the fence, Tryin’ make a dollar outa 29 cents. That fence is gonna break cuz it’s rotten at the core, There’s no sense in fixin’ it; we don’t know what’s in store. VERSE 2: If you thought the DOJ was comin after you, It’s time you took a better look around. I’m talkin’ ‘bout the Torture Guy and Condaleeza, too. They’ll be happy when yer gagged & bound. Clean-up for freedom, keep our Homeland wet, Believe it when you see it on the News. Go “live” to yet another marionette Lip-synching without a clue. CHORUS BRIDGE 2: Got a tough-talkin’ Texan clearin’ out the brush, Startin’ up the chainsaw ‘fore th’ mornin’ rush. Rail-splittin’, axe-swingin’, ridin’ on th’ range Wait until it’s night, and everything has been changed CHORUS
