A song that makes fun of songwriting. Good old boogie woogie type rock.

Nouveau retro pop rock music: Definitely rock, fairly pop, somewhat retro, and a bit more experimental. http://www.stonemarmot.com
Our music is the result of not watching TV for over 40 straight years. That's right! The person who writes all our songs hasn't had a working television in his house since January, 1982. Scary, isn't it! That could explain the somewhat retro, rather experimental feel to the music, which has been described as sounding somewhere between Buddy Holly, The Ramones, The B-52s, and They Might Be Giants. This CD is an object lesson in how warped and depraved a television-starved mind can get. And that's not all! To make matters worse, since no self-respecting human would stoop low enough to play this stuff, he suckered four poor, innocent cartoon characters into recording his music. Cartoon characters have it tough enough as it is, with people laughing at them all the time, without having to be subjected to this! His poor, unfortunate victims, who refer to themselves collectively as Stone Marmot, are: Cindy: Guitars Sid: Keyboards, guitars, lead and backup vocals Sammy: Bass, lead and backup vocals Bruce: Percussion, backup vocals This quartet played their little paper hearts out as the ignoble fiend who created them and their music practically produced and engineered them to death. Therefore, for the sake of the cartoons, we hope you give their music a good listen and try to appreciate their tireless and selfless efforts. Please! Don't let this happen to you or someone you love! Be sure you and your loved ones receive a healthy minimum dose of television each and every day.

Story behind the song
I wrote this one day when I was frustrated with the whole songwriting business.
Lyrics
Verse 1: Long hair, guitar, gonna be a big star Thanks to all these tunes I play I've got the licks that impress the chicks Who scream for me night and day, yeah, yeah, yeah All I've gotta do is add some words But something's changed along the way Now if I want my music to sell I've gotta have a story to tell Or emotions gushing like an artesian well Chorus: Gimme back those days of yeah, yeah, yeah Na, na, na, na, baby, goodbye I'm sick of writing songs that gotta make sense And put a tear in somebody's eye All I want to do is have some fun Scream my brains out 'til I'm comfortably numb Gimme back those days of yeah, yeah, yeah Na, na, na, na, baby, goodbye Verse 2: Oh, lyrics are just words you throw in the verse To give the singer something to sing Otherwise he'd look pretty stupid on stage Not doing a friggin' thing, yeah, yeah, yeah You can't tell me these songs made any sense Like a cake left out in the rain Or “Mony, Mony,” “American Pie” Jimi trying to kiss the sky A stairway that some lady wants to buy Repeat chorus Bridge: It's the melody and beat that move my happy feet So why strain my brain for just the right words That make these songs complete Everybody sing! Repeat chorus twice Tag: Gimme back those days of yeah, yeah, yeah Na, na, na, na, baby, goodbye Gimme back those days of yeah, yeah, yeah Na, na, na, na, baby, goodbye Copyright 2005 A.
