Story behind the song
Prelude: an introductory performance or event; a musical
introduction; a preliminary.
As we were preparing to work on a new CD, the name “Prelude” came up. For one thing, it was a pretty cool word. What I really liked, though; was the definition. The more I thought about it, our lives here on earth are simply the prelude to heaven. It is just the warm-up; the preliminary part of eternal life.
As I was putting together the song list, a melody kept playing through my mind. Within a few days we started work on what became “Prelude” the song. The chorus of the song quickly became one of our favorites. I particularly like the final line that says, “Whatever I say and do, know it’s only my prelude”. One day when my final note is sung here on earth, know that it was only the prelude to an eternity of worship.
