Story behind the song
This is a Celtic roots type of instrumental inspired by the Masterless Men. They were early settlers of Newfoundland who left the coast to settle inland, to escape their masters and the sea. Those who pursued them were invited to join, but not invited to leave. The tune begins as a waltz, then suddenly hits stride as a moderate reel. That was a last minute decision for us, as sure it was for some of the Masterless Men.
