Laura Ranieri is a folkrock, hotAC, new country singer songwriter who has been bringing her powerful voice and intelligent lyrics to the Toronto scene for about three years. She has just launched her first full length album "Southbound" woven through with themes of travel - south of 49 - and even south of Yonge and St. Clair, Toronto. She has played full houses in Toronto and sparked interest in her work during a few pilgramages to Nashville. Her first EP in 2002 - A Little Of That saw singles like "Easier that Way" and "Simon" topping the charts at MP3.com. Check her out at www.lauraranieri.com

Lyrics
Verse 1/ Demon in the neon lights can’t hold me anymore I’ve walked these cold city streets a million times before Oh no – no more big snow Gotta beat the scene before it blows So I’m hitting the road Chorus Southbound – no-one can turn me round Southbound – lay my feet on greener ground Southbound -- to some sweet Virginia town Follow me down… Southbound Verse 2 Sweet cricket symphony will greet me at my door Big pink Magnolia tree outside the country store Slow gin and gentlemen My frozen heart is opening As the journey begins Chorus Southbound – no-one can turn me round Southbound – lay my feet on greener ground Southbound -- to some sunny Georgia town Follow me down… Southbound Bridge There’s a pot of gold Where the cotton grows And the rain falls fast But the river’s slow I’ve lived my life in the land of snow Now I gotta go Like a rolling stone Chorus Southbound – no-one can turn me round Southbound – lay my feet on greener ground Southbound -- to some Mississippi town Follow me down… Southbound Chorus to end
