I traveled to where your words could not reach me;
You were so many miles away.
I went to my room without you,
There was nothing more to say.
But when I look in the mirror
There is a glimmer of fear
For your reflection is there
And for all the miles
I sometimes think you are here.
I tried to put it all behind me;
I put all of your books on my shelf.
But you are there to remind me
You died to save me from self.
When I look into the mirror
There is a glimmer of fear
Of all the nows and the here
For all of my life
Has been strife after strife
And the reflection’s no longer clear.
