A relative newcomer to the jamband scene, Whirled Blue has already made an indelible impression. Blending the blues sounds of the Delta with the improvisational freeform of the jamband, they have managed to create their own niche in the music world. Co-founder and lead guitarist, Pat Kane, at the age of fourteen, has already been compared to an array of guitar greats including Derek Trucks, Eric Clapton, Jerry Garcia and Warren Haynes. With his original style and soulfully inspired licks, Pat has been capturing attention everywhere he turns. Pat's partner in the founding of the band as well as in the writing, compilation, and arrangement of Whirled Blue's music, Sean Kelly, has played an active role in the jamband scene for years. Most recently as a member of Living Earth, whose reputation for astonishing reproductions of the music of the Grateful Dead is nationally renowned, he has performed alongside some of the best on the scene. Together, they have pulled together an all-star lineup to complete the band. Slappin' on the Bass and on lead Vocals, Nate Farrar is the one of the most original singer/songwriters around! He is the man behind all of Whirled Blue's original compositions. His bellowing vocals and powerful lyrics are unmatched. The "Guardian of the Groove" with his funky bass lines, Nate is a perfect compliment to an already talent-loaded group of musicians. On the piano and organ, Mark Bader is like no other. His skillful fingerwork has caused many a jaw to drop. With his own unique style and complete mastery of the keys, he never ceases to amaze all who hear him. Rounding out the rhythm section, on percussion, is one of Delaware's most sought after drummers. Keeping everything in time, all the time, the Human Metronome, Matt Scarano, adds some of the most amazing beats imaginable! Formally trained as a jazz drummer, his impeccable timing along with incredibly fierce solos, Matt simply commands the attention of any spectator. With their ability to appeal to a variety of audiences, Whirled Blue has found themselves gaining critical acclaim throughout the region.
