Upbeat angst pop - Written in 1985
accoustic
Accoustic Ballads, Pop and Atmospheric Instrumentals
I've been writing since the age of 16, mostly accoustic ballads, pop and instrumentals. Started recording stuff when I bought a 4-track tape recorder in 1988. I did quite alot of recording with this limited equipment and progressed to DAW work with Cubase. Now that the limitations have all but dissappeared, I don't have as much time as I did back then...

Story behind the song
Never believe a woman!
Lyrics
My best friend says to me, 'Never ask them for their sympathy' It hurts so bad you'll never understand Don't wait until somebody lends a hand The meaning hits so hard you'll never know A memory too bad for any show To breathe a word will only leave a scar Until you're dead you won't know where you are And I feel like a blackbird with a broken wing Shot down with one blow without a heart to sing In the end when they laid down their arms to fight Sent a messenger to help them saying 'Stay home tonight, but don't close your eyes' Don't close your eyes tonight Lift up your hearts so high Don't leave me lonely tonight Just be sure When you look at me you seem so sure I'm only asking 'cos I'm no fool They leave you stranded not a chance to fight Before you know you're on your own tonight So don't close your eyes (Chorus) Words & Music by Richard Phillips © 1985
