Bands start for many reasons: girls, drugs, free booze. Subjective Well Being merely wanted Pop Tarts.
Hi. We were Subjective Well Being, a three piece rock band from Hot Springs Village, AR. Even though we are no longer active, we are leaving this page up so that if anyone ever come across these tunes, they can still take a listen. We still check back here every once and awhile, so leave us a comment or a note and tell us what you think. Thanks for ten years of rock and roll!

Story behind the song
This is the song that people seemed to like the best of anyone we have. I think that's because it builds to a chorus and sounds the closest to a single that we ever did. In a lot of ways it is the song that best showcases what we did as a band. Russ and I were working on song for what would eventually become our record "Ghosts" and he began playing this repetitive, driving bassline that you hear here. We didn't have any really aggressive at the time, so I began to play along. Russ helped me figure out a few notes that I just wasn't getting right, and we had it fairly quickly, the verse, bridge and chorus. In band practice Taylor and Russ came up with the middle 8. I tried a few times to write something that was a little more of a traditional guitar solo. Sadly, when it comes to accompolished guitar parts, I am not the man to call. So one day I got frustrated and just started beating on the strings, and it sounded pretty good. So I just did that on the record also. Lyrically, I had the phrase "Kill the wife. Eat the kids" written in one of my lyric books. If I remember correctly Russ came across it and liked and we decided that that was to be the chorus. The verses are just nonsense, really, lines that I had that I thought were pretty good and fit the vibe of the song. This is the one we always started off with live when played shows, and it's still one of my favorite tracks that we did. In the words of my brother, "that one is a keeper."
Lyrics
I know the in's and the outs I got it figured out I'm turning blue instantly In front of your eyes magically BRIDGE Tell me anything I am nothing Tired of the aggravation? Shut up and be patient I'm made up on spare parts Broken down and fragile hearts Up we sit and down we stand I broke down my head in my hands BRIDGE I'm only make believe Components of what I see Touching from a distance With little hesistance CHORUS: Kill the wife, eat the kids
