Story behind the song
I was driving home at the end of winter and was sick of gray skies and cold weather. Wrote about just hopping on a plane to get to a better climate.
Lyrics
VERSE What do you say We leave all these gray days Far behind us? We could be on a southbound plane Before the sun goes down. I hear the sound of waves And taste tequila Won’t you be my señorita Down in Mexico? CHORUS Where the sun is hot And the days are long They make their margaritas Nice and strong. I know an old bungalow Where the ocean is close And time moves very, very slow. Cancun or Cozumel You know, they suit you well, Just feel the ocean breezes blow I hear them calling our names Down in Mexico. VERSE I’ve got to think That the gang at the office Will never miss me. You’ve got enough overtime in line To take a week or two. No need to pack a bag We can just kick back and Let our inhibitions go Down in Mexico CHORUS BRIDGE Your skin looks so damn good In the moonlight With just the ocean breeze Covering you and me Everything will be all right. CHORUS Tag ending
