DB came out of hiding momentarily to lay down a nice bass line, unfortunately the years of rust have taken a toll on his once acceptable abilities.

Hipper Than Thou is essentially School House Rock for obscure history and theology.
Hipper Than Thou is an ill fated collection of personalities with no commercial aspirations whatsoever. Our music is less bound by style than it is by talent. All songs are limited to the 9 chords our guitarist knows. Stylistically we range from Folk, to Jazz Folk, to Electric Folk, with a little Folk Rock.

Story behind the song
Caedmon said he was inspired by the American left which will one moment hope the ends justify their means and the next hope the oposite. He said the same is true on the right, but since it's easier to shoot fish in a barrell, he shot at the left.
Lyrics
I lied last night, in the name of all that’s true. I have a higher calling than to worry what I do. I’m fighting on the side of what I know. When I fight the bullets fall below. I’ve sown discord, in the name of peace and love. I have stirred an army to rain fire from above. They do what I say as well they should. Their sacrifices serve a higher good. Some say that politics is dirty to the core. Not one who enters in emerges clean. But I will make the sacrifice, don’t stop me I implore. ‘Cause the ends will surely justify my means. I held my fire, while the killer got away, My conscience clear, the villain lived to kill another day. While others look for justice I forgive. While others prosecute, I let them live. While Some would lock you up, I’ll rehabilitate. And I won’t let those other men discriminate. It doesn’t matter what you did, what’s in your past or what you hid, Just promise you won’t kill another kid. Some say that ethics is a smile upon a dog. And sacrifice and hope are never friends. The consequences trouble me emerging from a fog. I pray the means will justify the ends.
