Story behind the song
Although “I’ll Fall Again” was written primarily as a tribute to the late Layne Staley,
most of us have known someone who has had to deal with the demons of drug/alcohol addiction. If you’ve ever experienced it first hand, you know the recovery & relapse process is a pure form of hell. It’s a battle to regain your own soul. Some have won & some have lost the battle. This song deals with the hard road to recovery.
Lyrics
I might have found another,
Place where demons hide
Through my vein that we share
My soul’s there for the finding
Through my floating eyes
Or do you still care?
If I ain’t found the bottle
I might have found my own way home
Is this hell? What am I on again?
I held me to a standard
That I could not reach
Can you reach me in time?
I can’t listen to the wiser
They send the words they preach
But I’m deaf and I’m blind
If I ain’t found the needle
I might have found my own way home
Is this hell? What am I on again?
Where is here? On my knees I’m crawling in
Nail me to the wall, if you can
From my cross I’ll fall again
{you must be a star/ or tell me who you think you are}
{feed the devil’s own/ then find me when I die alone}
Where is here? On my knees I’m crawling in
Nail me to the wall, if you can
From my cross I’ll fall again
If I ain’t found the bottle
I might have found my own way home
Is this hell? What am I on again?
If I ain’t found the needle
I might have found my own way home
Is this hell? What am I on again?
Where is here? On my knees I’m crawling in
Nail me to the wall, if you can
From my cross I’ll fall again
Tell me where we are.
Where is here? On my knees I’m crawling in
Nail me to the wall, if you can
From my cross I’ll fall again
I will fall again
