God has a purpose for each and every one of us. Our calling is to seek his will. Share with me on my journey to discover God in truth and reality. I dont pretend to have the answers, but Im sure having fun asking the questions. After all, if Gods wisdom is foolishness to man, then I think Id rather be a fool. Story behind the song
From a set of songs exploring the Incarnation of God. A kind of alternative nativity. This one has been popular with the many people who have heard it. The recording is a one-off for a local radio station and was broadcast as part of a Christmas day service. Sung be me (with a stinker of a cold) and the Washingborough Singers led by Greg Wright, to who I am most grateful for getting air play. I personally think it should be sung with a smaller group.
Lyrics
Verse 1: Emmanuel. The world was made with just one word. Creations voice proclaimed it, As the voice of man was heard; Entrusted with the splendid image of our Lord Temptation took the place of love And closed the garden's doors. Chorus: He feels our pain, He feels our joy, He feels the emptiness of loneliness Like a lost bewildered boy. He shares our dreams He sees the end. Emmanuel, forgive us now, And always be our friend. Verse 2: Emmanuel. The Word becomes the breath of life; Destroys religious forgery And releases us from strife He comes to us enfolding all our hopeless pain. To live with us, to die for us, To take away our shame. Chorus:
