Story behind the song
S.E.T.I. means "Search for Extra Terrestrial Intelligence". This is a weird track, mostly uncommon for our standards: we usually play Ambient and film music, but this time it came out almost by chance. Jamming on a structured sketch of a 12 strings guitar played by our good old Duilio. So here you may hear Duilio at the 12 strings guitar, Roberto at the tenor saxophone, Max at the drums, Dave long at the bass and Augusto at the mallets & keyboards. This track is destinated to the 2nd CD ("Future") of our 3rd album ("Time Traveller"), and is relating to the space exploration and the SETI project itself, and the distant future when an alien civilization will be attracted by our signals, in a remote future when mankind is fallen to prehistoric times and raisen again from the ashes. The full story will appear in the album booklet, anyway. This is a "merry, dreamy track" of a "soundtrack album". A bit about SETI and related matters (from the official site www.seti.org if you want to know more): S.E.T.I. and L.I.T.U.
The mission of the SETI Institute is to explore, understand and explain the origin, nature and prevalence of life in the universe. The SETI Institute is a private, nonprofit organization dedicated to scientific research, education and public outreach. Founded in 1984, the Institute today employs over 100 scientists, educators and support staff. Research at the Institute is anchored by two centers. Dr. Jill Tarter leads the Center for SETI (Search for Extraterrestrial Intelligence) Research as Bernard M. Oliver Chair for SETI. Dr. Frank Drake is the Director for the Center for the Study of Life in the Universe. Center for the Study of Life in the Universe (LITU)
The Center for the Study of Life in the Universe brings together leading researchers in a field often called "astrobiology." Our LITU team focuses on a wide set of disciplines ranging from observing and modeling the precursors of life in the depths of outer space to studies of Earth, where we are attempting to learn more about how life began and how its many diverse forms have survived and evolved. Appropriate to the sweeping scope of this research, we have many partners in our LITU work including NASA, the National Science Foundation, and major universities. LITU Projects and the Drake Equation
Each Life in the Universe research project is related in some way to understanding the origins of life or the extent to which life may be present beyond Earth. Devised as a means to inform SETI research, the Drake Equation addresses broad areas of scientific research, and each LITU project relates to one or more factors in the Equation. LITU Funding
Nearly all Life in the Universe scientists generate their own funding through outside grants, usually from NASA or the National Science Foundation. The SETI Institute's excellent management and demonstrated ability to minimize overhead thereby maximizing funds available to conduct the actual research has helped the Institute build a strong reputation as an efficient home for researchers. The SETI Institute
The mission of the SETI Institute is to explore and explain the nature and prevalence of life in the universe. This mission encompasses projects covering a broad range of disciplines that include: Astronomy and planetary sciences
Chemical evolution
Origin of life
Biological evolution
Cultural Evolution
The search for extraterrestrial intelligence
How did life begin on Earth? How many stars have planets and how many of these planets might support life? Scientists in the SETI Institute's Center for the Study of Life in the Universe (LITU) explore these and other fundamental questions through a research program consisting of more than 30 externally funded, peer-reviewed projects. LITU principal investigators conduct basic research into a field often known as astrobiology. The Drake Equation
