Story behind the song
The Belly Dance, as we know it, has existed for a thousand years; its roots can be traced back to ancient India and its journey can be followed through Persia, Arabia and North Africa. It is even thought to be the precursor to modern flamenco dance. In ancient times, the Belly Dance was performed as part of a Fertility Ritual, to celebrate the origins of life. The Dance of Life is in the Chafteteli (slow) style of Arab dance music and serves as a tantalizing glimpse into the ancient and enigmatic world of Pre-Islam Arabia.
