It must be my name. Ever since I was a skinny high school kid, I felt certain I was destined to be a guitar legend. Sure, I know that was a long time ago, and these days, I look a lot more like the mortgage-paying father from the suburbs I am than Eric Clapton or Keith Richards. But somewhere deep inside, there's a star musician just itching to get out. It seems to be the birthright of any kid born with the last name of Rocks. (Yes, it's my real name.) OK, so I may not be a guitar legend, or a rock star of any sort. But I've finally gotten around to recording my songs. Most of them were written years ago, but just recorded in the past couple of years. It's me on guitars, Ange on bass, Laura H. on some vocals, Eddie Kamenik on drums, Pietro Stein on keys. Enjoy these songs. Pass them around to your friends. Please, let me know what you think (there's a message board for that, you know!). And you can check out my tunes and those from similar artists on RadioFreeDavid.com (you might think it's mine, but it's not).

Story behind the song
I was in Innsbruck when I heard that my grandmother had died. This song is about her and others I have lost, and the pain of hearing that kind of news in a faraway place.
Lyrics
I walk the streets goin' nowhere Thinkin' about what they told me today You left the earth One soul lighter I'm walkin' nowhere, nothing to say I'm walkin' nowhere, they told me today I lay down in the night, your life on my mind I can't forget you sleep leaves me behind I see your face Your smile for me I lay down in the night, in this lonely place I lay down in the night, I see your face I had a dream that I saw you again You said you loved me and then took my hand I saw your eyes I heard your voice I had a dream, I saw your eyes I had a dream, for you I cried As I lie still here, I remember when I was a young boy and you were so strong You laughed like a warm wind But your hand was firm As I lie still, that wind I hear As I lie still under the weight of my tears
