I'm Joe Johnson a local United Methodist Pastor. Before I felt God calling me into the ministry I thought I was going to be a rap artist. For 8 years I did nothing with music until my wife introduced me to a group called "The Gospel Gansters" in 1998. It was an eye opening experience. I was amazed to see people using rap for the glory of God. That day I picked up paper and pen and I haven't put it down yet.
Story behind the song
I served a church called NorthWest United Methodist. We sang a song called Shake the devil off. When we went to church camp we taught the kids the song and they enjoyed it so much I made it into a rap song

First confuse your sin, then repent that’s number too
Repent means to turn away from the things you use to do
Then confess with your mouth and believe in your heart
That Jesus is the Saviour that will give you a new start

Serve him an eviction notice in Jesus Name
But once the devils gone you got to fill the gap
With God’s Holy word, or the devil will come back
Get your self involved in a church that serving the Lord
Then go and tell somebody else all the things that you heard
