Outlaw Country with a touch of Bluegrass and Southern Rock. Americana. Biker Music. It's a fresh, unique sound that is hard to fit into a catagory.
Patti Stevens' first CD, produced by legendary outlaw singer/songwriter Billy Don Burns, was released in the spring of 2006. The project is full of heartfelt honesty and emotion. Her style has strong undertones of the rebellious outlaws of the past and present. It is hard to tell fact from fiction as she weaves a vivid tale in every song, each one thought provoking, and bravely exposing a part of herself. Her stories of love and life and the journey in between will bring you to tears and laughter almost simutaniously. One of Patti's songs from the CD, a fun gospel tune with a twist titled Just In Case, recently won first place in the Indianapolis Songwriters Association contest and the song She Rides has been picked up by independent artist band Cabin Row. Her tribute to the Confederate flag, The X They Stole From Dixie has been very popular with-in the biker crowd and also Civil War buffs. "I'm a Civil War buff myself and I ride a Harley, " she says, "so most of my songs are a reflection of that." She came to Nashville to create a niche for herself and she has accomplished this. Many legendary songwriters in Nashville recognized her talent and offered guidance and support...all for the love of a song. Click on Nashville Knows, a song about her first experiences in Nashville and you will hear Billy Don Burns stepping in for the last chorus...(thanks, Billy!). If you are looking for a totally different, yet pure sound, check out her songs and watch for the CD release in january. And if you are and artist interested in performing any of her songs she would love to hear from you! (bio by Paulette LaFay...Music Row, Nashville, TN)

Story behind the song
"Patti, in your home demo's, your vocals always had that hint of innocense/purity in them. But THIS dramatically delivers it home, and captures the essence and soul of this song. This is one woman talking...begging, if you will, for the man that she looks up to not lead her down the wrong path. (The significance of what you're saying goes WAYYYYY beyond the obvious situation in this song. Haven't we ALL looked up to a God-like figure, only to be confronted by their blatant mortality...?) The little speaking parts, the subtle cracks in your vocals, the way you finish some of the lines in a near-whisper...IS PURE and HONEST, because it came from your heart. I wouldn't change a syllable...not a note. "Damn it, Man" put a great big lump right in my throat, immediately! Genius! Here again, someone might TRY to cover this song, but I think it next to impossible. Thats YOU. And I'll tell ya something. You have a very special quality in that voice of yours. Delightfully REAL. Christ-On-His-Throne! There's hope yet for REAL music!" Paul Pedersen Jr., Mount Misery Music
Lyrics
Leave Me Clean (c) 2005 Patti Stevens/BMI It was white, like the Cadillac you drive When it slipped out of your pocket Onto the road outside You just smiled and said “everything’s ok” I saw the needle and the spoon But I loved you anyway I really hate to say this I don’t know what I’ll do But if I have to put my trust in you Leave me clean, Leave me clean Don’t take me down the devils highway Hungry for my dreams Baby, I’m not trying to be mean Leave me clean, leave me clean Dammit, man, I really wanna be with you You’re the songwriter I love the most The one I look up to But my dreams might be stronger then my will And I’m afraid of what I’ll do Trying to climb that hill So, baby, please don’t take me very far When you know how much I love the man you are
