This is my demented anthem for dropping out of 'the class' system, and making my own rules. It mixes some weird styles from the early 80's (ala Devo, Bauhaus) with a little bit of the late 90's Rap / Spoken word type alternative (ala Cake, NIN)

Modern and Retro Rock
Hey, I'm Mike Zute, a multi-faceted musician / entertainer. This site serves the purpose of hosting my audio media, Primarily my original songs: mostly in the style of Modern & Retro Rock. (This site also contains miscellaneous audio as well, such as comedy, and interviews w/ ZuteGirl Models.) Just click "music" on the top area of this page to unfurl this fine audio! Aside from this site, there is more current info at my band's main website: You can also goto is now primarily used to promote the ZUTE cover band, and here is where I'll post info and media regarding original music. My interview and band history on this page might not be current (circa 2005/2006), but I will leave them here til further notice. Here is my list of musical influences which used to be on myspace: -I'll try to list the bands that were most influential in making me want to perform & write music: 60's & 70's Guitar Rock: i.e. Black Sabbath, The Kinks, Led Zeppelin, The Doors, The Zombies, Jethro Tull, Rush, Kiss;; Classic Folk / Country: Johnny Cash, John Denver, Jim Croce;; Old School Punk: Bad Religion, The Descendents, The Ramones, The Sex Pistols, Suicidal Tendencies;; 80's Metal: Iron Maiden, Metallica, Whitesnake, Motley Crue;; 80's Alternative: Devo, Talking Heads, Smithereens;; 90's Alternative: Alice in Chains, Nirvana, Pearl Jam, Foo Fighters, N.I.N., Rage/Machine, Sublime, Presidents of USA;; 90?s Pop Punk: Green Day, Dramarama, Blink 182, The Offspring, Weezer;; 90?s Metal: Korn, Clutch, Helmet, Godsmack, System of a Down;; etc. I have a million other influences, but this gives you an idea. There is no way that one of my tunes can reflect all of these bands. -Sometimes the Non-conformist, defiant attitude and lyrics of some of these artists is a bigger influence than their music, and visa-versa. (Some have hit me more with the music than the lyrics/ attitude.)

Story behind the song
I'm not sure.. maybe I'm trying to warn kids not to grow up to be like me... But ya know I think that Martian Aliens really did shoot down those NASA space probes.
Lyrics
(verse 1) I had this feeling: my head hit the ceiling: Myself against the people who are not worth believing. You know the time when I’d act upon a dime: Following the flow for the gifts that never show. Well the freedom of my mind- Indeed that’s what I said. It woke me like the apple that hit Newton in the head. (pre-chorus) What are you looking for right now? Ya might see it! Will it occur to you somehow? I really f*ckin hope it does! (chorus) Hear these words and feel my music- Telling you it’s your life choose it. Take the advice don’t abuse it. Blazing on a weekend afternoon. (bridge or something) Free Beer. Free Sex. (Verse 2) Well you’ve heard of peer pressure so you don’t need a speech: This shit will happen through your life as people try and preach. Like the pyramid schemes and the snake’s pipe dreams: Feeding on your greed they’ll have your brain split at the seams. So now don’t invade my space or I’ll have to kick your ass: Like the monkey faced Martians made the NASA probe crash. (outro) This is a story nothing more and nothing else, Make your own choices and that’s all I have to tell.
