I've taken a few months off from songwriting. Needed to feel fresh again. This song just came to me as I've moved around the past few years. I think alot of people can relate to it. Maybe EVERYBODY can!

Winston-Salem, NC based country music singer & songwriter
I am a country music singer/songwriter in Graham, NC. I'm originally from Winston-Salem, NC and, after spending time in Nashville in for awhile, I've moved back to NC. I've been playing and writing country music since I was in high school in the early 1990's. My greatest ambition is to play the Grand Ole Opry. To stand where legends like Hank Williams and Haggard played would make my life complete. I'm working hard at this career and I truly believe that deep down that God put me on this earth to sing country music. Only time will tell - I'm doing all I can do to make it happen. I hope that you enjoy this website I've put together. It will be updated often so check back from time to time. And drop me a line if you get a chance. I'd love to hear from you. Thanks, Brad

Lyrics
Wishing I Was Somewhere c. 2006 Brad Butner Mom kissed me goodbye as a tear rolled down her face And I blew out of that town in my old Z-28 Felt so good to see that sleepy town in my rear view And I didn’t even go back for a year or two I graduated and took a job in the big city But you can’t find yourself and the girls sure ain’t pretty Chorus. And I was wishing I was somewhere I’ve already been The grass ain’t greener on the other side Wishing I was somewhere I’ve already been It’s easy to leave, but hard to go back Said she was leaving and packed up that U-Haul van I just closed the front door and slipped the ring off of my hand I wondered ‘bout that high school flame I should’ve held on to She’s probably married now, with a kid or two 30 years old and a DWM Father time had stolen all of my best years Chorus. And I was wishing I was somewhere I’ve already been The grass ain’t greener on the other side Wishing I was somewhere I’ve already been It’s easy to leave, but hard to go back Bridge. Well this road goes on and on And I just try to keep up But the more I travel down life’s highway God it seems like I’m just stuck Wishing I was somewhere I’ve already been The grass ain’t greener on the other side Wishing I was somewhere I’ve already been It’s easy to leave, but hard to go back It’s easy to leave, but hard as hell to go back
