Story behind the song
This is the first song I ever wrote (when I was 17 years old in 1969). I recorded it in 1975 with a few musician friends.
Lyrics
I’m Leaving This Morning I have brought you the mountains; I have brought you the sea; I have loved you in winter, And see what you’ve done to me. I brought you the rainbow Heavy laden with its gold; I warmed your body, But your heart remained cold. I’m leaving this morning, My heart is paining, The night is fading, And yesterday must die. I gave you the flower, And it wilted in the sun; I gave you the hours, But now they are done. Once I knew all the seasons, Now they all seem the same; Days come and go for no reason, And no one dances in the rain. I’m leaving this morning, My heart is paining, The night is fading, And yesterday has died.
