The Ballad Of Rodney Lucket
Country song about the exploits of an evil fictitious man.
Electronic tinged progressive rock with occasional elements of black metal.
My name is Tim Blake, and Quarry Mantis is the name of my one-man musical project. Quarry Mantis has no set-in-stone style, but currently it consists of electronics, progressive rock and dashes of black metal and others. I like to think my music is carried on its fresh ideas, and I try to be as enthusiastic as possible when approaching the music making process. Please enjoy my stuff. ;)
Story behind the song
Started as somewhat of a joke but became quite listenable.
Lyrics
Quarry Mantis – The Ballad Of Rodney Lucket
There once was a man from nantucket,
Who decided to ram the bucket,
Though later on he said ‘fuck it’,
He found a place he could chuck it,
His hair was black with the soot from the mines,
And his fingers stained with cigars,
Spent his time down on Oregon Trail,
Fightin’ and drinkin’ in bars,
Ol’ Jim Hickey was his right hand man,
Though he couldn’t tell his left from right,
Wild Bill was the one who he’d kill,
But he never could find that man,
Rodney’s ambition never knew any bounds,
That’s when he shot McCarthy McGram,
Couldn’t get any cowgirls,
Cos they’d run and they’d scream in fright,
Approach ‘em at the counter,
With a gun in his hand,
What a devilish and ugly sight,
Cackling as he rode on,
Like a knife through the rain,
You could him through the hills,
Preying on the Indians and niggers and jews,
The man was meaner than Tucker McGill,
He dragged John Wesley Jr. for a mile or two,
After shooting him in both his legs,
Massacred his family with the spurs on his boots,
And drank his beer down to the dregs,
Rodney Lucket,
Stay away from him boy…
