progressive groove based metal
One of the tightest rhythm sections to play out of New England has teamed up with a newly found voice to create a sound unlike any other. A sound created with the elements of Harold Balzak’s aggressive funk bass riffs and Matt Molloy’s technical progressive tribal beats, topped off with Jim Dillon’s violent screams, intense vocal melodies and amazing guitar work. The musical knowledge, complex timings and strong musicianship that these three have, make Bastard Hat a unique band in a present society of bland hardcore and droning metal. Integrating their trademark time changes and heavy rhythms, they bring in influences from almost all genres of music. From hardcore, metal and rock, to more diverse influences, such as funk, jazz and psycho-progressive. Harold and Matt have been playing together and strengthening their chemistry for almost five years in a variety of different bands. The largest obstacle they had to overcome was finding a vocalist and guitarist that had the same drive and passion for music as they did. It wasn’t until axe master Jim Dillon (formerly of All You’ll See, Specimen X) decided to pick up a mic as well, that they found their perfect match. With members hailing from three different states (MA, RI and NH), Bastard Hat is a force that will conquer New England with a tight and energetic live performance that will keep the eyes and ears of any and all spectators glued to the stage. Their ever growing set list insures that every show will be a new and unique experience for repeating fans every time the band hits the stage, so see them often! This band is built with real people, playing real music. Nothing fake here... Just Bastards!!!
