Lyrics
The Future of 1980
a story without,
periods in the sentences,
shallow up dimensions,
of powdered up violence,
some change and sleep,
would do them good,
but I think, we should share,
this last cup of tea with me,
I know we can comtemplate,
this future, the future of 1980
there's a hand,
to the west of infinity,
that pushes in the corners of the earth,
children stop, look deep into the skies,
as their shadows rise from the playground floors,
one child looks at me, and asks a question,
I cannot answer,
she said "what will happen in the future of 1980?"
I told her "I don't know"
its something I saw on tv,
its something my mother told me,
its something I read in the books,
like I knew, like I knew,
something I read in the books
"if there's hope, it lies in the proles"*
