It's about time the white collar workers had a blues tune of their own. To all you 'Dilberts' out there - Enjoy and Good Luck!
boogie cubicle blues another lifetime
I play just aabout everything including: classical, rock, blues, GB, jazz, country, pop, folk. Its all good.
I have been playing keyboards of one sort or another since the age of seven, when I fell in love with the girl next door. Since she was taking piano lessons, I though it might be romantic to learn piano too so that we could play duets together. The "romance" didn't last and I got stuck with the piano lessons. Eventually I came to love playing the piano and moved on to various electronic instruments. I really get a lot of enjoyment out of making music, performing, composing, and playing with friends (like Open Road http://www.soundclick.com/bands/pageartist.cfm?bandID=158427) I also appreciate feedback on my songs both good and bad as long as it is constructive.

Story behind the song
After too many years in the computer industry, I put together a lot of thoughts on what is happening to the average IT professional. I hope my listeners will get a smile or two out of this, and know you are not alone.
Lyrics
Cubicle Blues © 2006 Mark D. Hastings (Blues in Eb) Chorus Cu cu cubicle blues, I got the Cu cu cubicle blues I got the cu cu cubicle blues, I got the cu cu cubicle blues There’s no way to win, but I can’t afford to loose I got the cu cu cubicle blues. VERSE 1 I sit in my cubicle all the long day It’s bland but its functional in neutral grey The wall get shorter and they’re closing in I just can’t figure out the fix I’m in. I thought I was smarter than the average guy, But some management moron is just passing me by VERSE 2 The boss just did the schedule and it don’t look great Looks like once again I’m gonna have to work real late I’ve hardly seen the wife, for a month or two The kids are growing up without me, what’s a daddy to do? I’ve got a big fat mortgage and two kids in school And I’m singin’ the Cubicle Blues VERSE 3 I look through the Want Ads but they’re pretty thin Seems like all the jobs are goin’ to the Pacific Rim. If I could find the time I might learn some new skills But it’s takin’ 80 hours just to pay my bills This is no way to live, hey I’ve paid my dues But all I’ve got to show is my cubicle blues VERSE 4 I have to grin and bear it and look forward to the day When I can kick back and tap into the 401 K But the market’s acting funny, maybe it’s rigged Cause the old nest egg ain’t looking too big. With all the layoffs coming it just might be soon, When I be flippin’ burgers at some greasy spoon.
