I am posting solo stuff and also with my band 'The Peoples' Friend' for which I am/was the music writer and piano player. Story behind the song
It is a very personal song, the lyrics were written by Jamie Kelsy and referenced the ungoing break up between myself and my partner. Started off as a bleak instrumental piece played at funereal pace on the piano added lyrics about a disastrous break up then realized that it could be one of those 'cry-in-your-beer, type country songs that none of us liked very much but still we went the whole hog, hired a pedal steel guitar ,some music student mates to add syrupy strings and sent the masters to a pal in Miami to add that Nashville touch. Marvellous. It is unlike anything else I have written and would be quite at home on some Nashville FM station I am sure. Why is it called Horror Movie? I don't knowe really, I guess I wanted a title that seemed totally incongruous but still fitting, I guess that's why. We weren't allowed to release it because of contract problems with the singer who will have to remain nameless. Do not try and buy this song from me please. Could have been a hit, maybe still can be.
