Recorded in F# Minor it was the 9th song ever written by the first three members, Joe, Barry and Dave and became one our best known songs with Kyril adding guitar.

Story behind the song
This song goes way back and was written in the basement of 2505 Anne Terrace where I grew up. Barry Robbins wrote the Lyrics and Joe, Barry and I wrote the music. Dave Joyner sang and Kyril Suszko later added guitar. This is the last version we recorded but there is an original version posted here recorded at Odyssey Sound.
Lyrics
Patriarchs of Golden Years Sell themselves for shallow cheers Was the money all that mattered Their dreams have all long since been shattered But they still get publicity Patriarchs of Golden Years On through time the band plays on again Patriarchs of Golden Years They march to the count of African beats Like trained monkeys in crowded streets Our music means nothing, the people only stare. How many songs will they hear through their phones Of the whiny little bitch who cries and then moans. A kiss from a prince to open our eyes Awake from the sleep to a world of old lies. I hear the same song I’ve heard all along But the beat is always too strong The Beauty of the music just isn’t there Music and money are no longer a pair But they still get publicity
