Story behind the song
I was spending some time at a good friend's house who happens to be a successful songwriter from Beaumont, TX. M.Jason Greene. He really helped put this thing together and between the two of us we've come up with something pretty special. :)
Lyrics
The Swing There’s a weathered wooden swing, Grandpa built in 43’ There’s stories it could tell, And secrets that it keeps There’s the one about a young man, With a nervous ring in one hand And the tears it caught When my Momma said yes Through the wind, sun, and rain It survived a little pain But like the rest of us, It made it through okay Chorus: It swayed through the fifties Saw a lotta love in the sixties And by 73’ it was rockin with my Mom and Dad and me In the spring of 85’, it stood still when Grandpa died It was Grandma closest as the ninties came and went There’ve been lives and loves and heartaches in between There ain’t much that ol’ swing ain’t seen I can almost picture Me and my little sister Seeing just how high The two of us could could get And the summer nights I spent In the arms of Amy Lynn Sittin’ there is where, I had my first kiss And carved in the armrests, There’s a lot of history There’s hearts and names And old forgotten dreams (Chorus) Bridge: Some see rotten wood and rusty chains That’s what I’ll miss most about this house I should load it up with the rest of all our things I just doesn’t seem right to take it down (Chorus)
