an exploration of the endive material using my sc based particle sequencers. convolution of grains, pulsars, trainlets, and glissons. also chebyschev polynomial distortion and feedback. i didn't write the patches for the latter, though.

Story behind the song
the majestic endive forest is an unfinished work using particle synthesis to explore a very small amount of material. the end result will be more than an hour long. the original material is less than two minutes, played back-to-back, and less than half a minute when layered. this particular movement, unfinished as well, is in 5/4, 180 bpm, and in the just-intoned 12t harmonic minor scale. when someone can explain to me, in an intelligent way, what being in a particular key (ie C) means, then i will be able to tell you what 'key' it is in. however, as it stands, every explanation of this concept breaks down because what really matters is the relationship between tones, and not some fundamental tone. the fundamental tone, in this case is 3 hz, or 180 bpm, with a subharmonic of 0.6 hz, or 5 beats.
