Maude The Mule
She was tall and lanky and very slow
Only she decided to stop or to go
Her ears were long and her eyes large
She seemed to think she was in charge
I understood her she understood me
Most of the time we didn’t agree
I accepted her faults as she did mine
Most of the time this worked out fine
This is the story of me and Maude
We worked the farm and plowed the sod
Maude she was an old gray mule __________{Chorus
Only her mother would find her cool
If she decided the load too great
Then she would groan and hesitate
Maude was stubborn and slow in pace
She was gentle but won no race
Working behind a test to pass
With every step she let out gas
I wished for a cool and windy day
The breeze to blow the other way
This is the story of me and Maude
We worked the farm and plowed the sod
Maude she was an old gray mule__________{Chorus
Only her mother would find her cool _______{Instr.Brk
Mom and Pop said learn in school
Or keep my place behind that mule
This was too much to have to fear
I excelled and skipped a year
Memories of Maude will never cease
In mule heaven she rests in peace
I don’t think Maude that stubborn mule
Will follow all of heaven’s rules
Lessons from parents and from that mule
Made me learn and stay in school
My life is better and I applaud
The help of them and dear old Maude
This is the story of me and Maude
We worked the farm and plowed the sod
Maude she was an old gray mule ___________{Chorus
Only her mother would find her cool
Maude she was an old gray mule
Only her mother would find her cool
