I'm a young contemporary Christian music leader/songwriter and church leader (I'm an ordained minister in the Church of England). My passion is to see Christ known. For everybody who knows me, having anything to do with the internet is a miracle (it takes me weeks to read my e-mails!). Im 32 and I was brought up in Manchester, knowing about God but never knowing God within my life. After a very difficult teenage period and getting into a lot of trouble I somehow found myself passing my exams and getting to university. Amazingly for some I actually came away from uni with a degree, and my wife and I went to live and work in Hertfordshire. Whilst there I was challenged by God on an Alpha course and I met Jesus as my Saviour. We worshipped at St. Andrews Chorleywood where I found great strength in knowing that Jesus is real in my life. After a number of years I found myself being called into the ordained ministry and in 2003 I was ordained into the Church of England (how this has happened Im yet to understand!). As well as serving in my local church Ive continued to lead worship at a number of different events and have led the music and teaching for church away days/weekends in various churches across the UK. I have been writing for a number of years and have a large folder of songs that have been an outpouring of my love for God. Ive never found the push to be pro-active with sending my material away, however recently I was very surprised to hear that my songs have been taken by others and used in Africa, Spain France and Jamaica as well as a number of churches across the UK. This led to a friend of mine setting this link up but with funds being tight I can only afford the free download (I hope you like it). My song writing always seems to be very basic but hopefully it represents part of a journey with God - a journey on which I have always sought to keep the Cross and the Resurrection central in my life.

Story behind the song
I had been challenged by a lady on placement in my local church about all the mushy songs we sing. When I went home and prayed about it, I began to feel more and more uneasy with not telling Jesus I love him. I dont naturally find it easy to tell people how I feel, yet I find myself longing to tell Jesus about the overflowing love for him. Matthew 22: 37 39 gives a clear indication of how we are to feel about God and others around us. Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind. This is the first and greatest commandment. And the second is like it: Love your neighbour as yourself" As I prayed further I felt upset for the times I hadnt loved God, for the times I had turned away and so Jesus I love you was given space to grow. The simplicity of it allows me to tell God without any frills that he is the very air I breathe. Having spent some time overcoming my male alter-ego about telling Jesus how much he means to me, I recognized that its only on his love that I can stand firm with the assurance of him being close. Once again I felt compelled to tell God that I would come to him, not in a leisurely way, but with urgency, running into his arms of love.
Lyrics
Verse: Jesus I love you, Jesus my King. You’re the air that I breathe, You’re the strength that I need. Jesus I love you, Jesus my Lord. My heart overflows, For your love brings me life. I love you. Chorus: You uphold your mighty hand, On your love I firmly stand. You’re faithful and you’re true. And there’s nothing I can do, But come and run into your arms of love.
