The joedai warriors features original introspective folk-rock songs by Joe Peters and the phenomenal musicianship of Michael Kelsey, 2004 Winner of Guitar Cente
The joedai warriors is a musical collaboration between me (singer-songwriter Joe Peters) and musician extraordinaire Michael Kelsey, 2004 winner of Guitar Center's National "Guitarmageddon" Competition for best unsigned guitarist in America. We first collaborated on 1998's "Given Birth," an independent CD release that features 13 of my songs that describe a variety of inner and outer experiences of life in the US and abroad. We have recently gone back into the studio to work on a follow-up album, "Rebirth," which was just released on December 11, 2004. While I play acoustic guitar and sing, Michael also sings backup and plays acoustic and electric guitars, banjo, bass, keyboards, mandolin, and percussion (to name but a few).

Story behind the song
I wrote this in the same Chinese village as a testament to the fortitude and creativity of the Chinese peasant, and of village people the world over. I initially recorded a host of songs from China on Cderr’s 4-track as “Pictures of Ancient China.”
Lyrics
The people of the mountain village, lead a life of toil & tillage An honest life where their own deeds, satisfy their every need They build their houses strong & good, from local clay & nearby wood They weave their baskets & sew their clothes, plant their crops in tidy rows The village people will survive, farmers keep us all alive Everything upon their table, is grown by hands & minds so able Everything upon their back, wasn’t bought off some store rack Everything these people say, is rooted in an ancient way Everything these people do, is alien to me & you The village people will survive, farmers keep us all alive If the modern world should end tomorrow, these folks would know not pain nor sorrow Their lives are now as they’ve always been, dependent only on their next of kin They’re self-sufficient & self-reliant, not tethered to some corporate giant Though we look at them as something weird, they’ll be here after we’ve disappeared The village people will survive, farmers keep us all alive The village people will survive, by force of will & mighty drive The village people will survive, though life to them appears deprived The village people will survive, for a thousand years they have strived The village people will survive, their village like a bustling hive The village people will survive, farmers keep us all alive The village people must survive, who do you think keeps us all alive
