Story behind the song
Sitting in a friend's house, Tristan and I ministered to him through our music without him even knowing. Singing All We Are, he sang along to the lyrics "Let our praises be to You, Lord, as a doorway to Your soul..." Our friend was high and drunk, but he was singing praises to our Saviour nevertheless and his spirit soared as a result. It was awesome to see and when we left we joked about how we should write a song incorporating the sinner's prayer (the prayer asking Jesus to come into your life). "Maybe if he sang that it would change his life completely!" Of course, we knew that is a conscious decision, one that a person can't be tricked into making. But the words flowed from Tristan's mouth and this song was born. Still a little sketchy and in need of completion, but that will come with time.
Lyrics
Come, Lord Jesus, into my heart And be my Lord Saviour I once was a man that did not have a plan To worship the Lamb (Jesus) You, you came to me in my time of need I fell to my knees (To welcome) (chorus) You into my heart with open arms I'm finding my way to You Deserve all of my praise Let Your Holy Spirit move Come, Lord Jesus, into my heart And be my Lord Saviour I know the blood You shed on that day Washed all my sins away Please, Lord, I pray (Save me) God on calvary you set me free Now I hold the key (To welcome) (chorus) Come, Lord Jesus, into my heart And be my Lord Saviour Draw me into Your arms And be with me forever I welcome (chorus)
