Lyrics
Three Shiny Red Marbles © September 21, 2006 Stan Loh Narrative This is a story about Jim Miller, a man who cleverly devised a plan to give poor and hungry people decency and esteem… Verse 1 Three shiny red marbles in his stone cold hand, The tears still wet the black arm bands, One by one they bent to stroke his hair, Three young men with yokes to bear, Cause now he’s gone, they’ve lost their man of gold, How could they repay his soul? Verse 2 Marble number one homage by Joe, He’s a Senator from Idaho, Marble two is ruby red, Fred bought it with lots of bread, The third red stone glowed through his hand, John gave it light from recycled sand. Chorus The man hated green ones, To the blues he said no, He only wanted red ones, he made sure they understood, Oh they understood…yes they understood. Verse 3 Rememb’ring his smile, the words he said, “One red marble one loaf of bread”, Eleven years no red stones found, He always claimed the round ain’t round, So under their arms potatoes and corn, Alleluia their faith reborn. Chorus He wouldn’t take the green ones, To the blues he said no, He only wanted red ones, he made sure they understood, Yes they understood…Oh they understood They understood…Oh they understood (Fade out)
