Story behind the song
Lyrics are a pretty extensive rewrite of Charles Hutchinson Gabriel's public domain hymn "He Is So Precious To Me" (1902) & the music is completely original. This rewrite was inspired by Christian Songwriter Network's 2006 "Mini Challenge" (a songwriting contest for members) in which the "challenge" was to modernize a public domain hymn.
Lyrics
VERSE 1
How precious are the feet of Him
Who walked from Galilee
How precious are the hands of Him
They nailed onto a tree
How precious is the life of Him
He gave for you and me
CHORUS
How precious, how precious
How precious He is to me
How precious, how precious
How precious He is to me
VERSE 2
How precious are the eyes of Him
Who looked upon the crowd
How precious is the smile of Him
To kids around the town
How precious is the head of Him
Who wore a thorny crown
CHORUS
How precious, how precious
How precious He is to me
How precious, how precious
How precious He is to me
BRIDGE
How precious is my Jesus
My Savior and my King
And He is so beautiful
So beautiful to me
CHORUS
How precious, how precious
How precious He is to me
How precious, how precious
How precious He is to me
