I'm a composer at Oberlin College. I write contemporary art music, mostly vocal pieces, and works for chamber ensemble. My vocal works tend toward virtuosity in their ranges, and all my music is very conscious of the counterpoint and blend of melodies into harmonic movement.

Story behind the song
The edited version. This is the Garritan rendition - I dislike the way some of the articulations came out, and given a live performance, they'd be much better. The piece is for soprano and piano, though here the soprano line is taken by an oboe. The soprano line is extremely difficult to sing, with a range of two full octaves, and extended pitches in the upper register.
