in this piece i tried out some new equiptment in pursuit of creating something that eventually becomes discovered by the listener. once the listener becomes accustomed to the continuous physical presence of the sound, internal structures begin to expand and contract, thereby making themselves apparent. this piece is continuous, therefore the interplay between figure and ground occurs entirely within the perception of the listener. this piece trains the listener to hear the structures somewhat hidden within the piece's material. new equiptment used is a mantissa-masking device which hides bits of data from the floating point integer data that comes into it. a bit like the 'decimator' bit reducing function glitch producers enjoy so much, but somewhat crisper and not as recognizable.
