Lyrics
I Am Never On My Own
My son came home from school today,
Tears streamin' from his eyes,
At first he wouldn't say a word,
But then to my surprise.
He said, "Daddy, you wouldn't understand,
What I go through every day,"
I said, "Try me, even though I'm now a man,
Once I was your age."
He said, "Daddy, I don't fit in,
Please help me be the same,
The kids stare but they don't see,
I don't wanna play their games."
"Don't make me go tomorrow,
Please let me stay home,
Cause I,
Am always on my own."
When I tucked him into bed that night,
He looked so sad,
I wished I could bring his mommy back,
So he didn't feel so bad.
He said, "Daddy, I know you try,
But this pain is just so cruel,
I'd rather be with mommy in the sky,
Than go back to school."
"Cause, daddy, I don't fit in,
Please help me be the same.
The kids stare but they don't see,
I don't wanna play their games."
"Don't make me go tomorrow,
Please let me stay home,
Cause I,
Am always on my own."
I said, "I'm so sorry mommy died,
It kills me too,"
And for the first time near him, I broke down and cried,
And said, "I can't lose you."
"And there's no way to bring her home,
But I wanna make you see,
That you'll never be alone,
You'll always have her and me."
He said, "Daddy, I don't fit in,
And I'll never be the same,
But I don't care if they stare at me,
Tomorrow I'll play their games."
"And I'll go to school but I can't wait,
To come back home,
Cause I,
Am never on my own."
"I know that I,
Am never on my own."
